11장
1 르호보암이 예루살렘에 이르러 유다와 베냐민 족속을 모으니 택한 용사가 십팔만 명이라 이스라엘과 싸워 나라를 회복하여 르호보암에게 돌리려 하더니
1 When Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, 180,000 chosen warriors, to fight against Israel, to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.
2 여호와의 말씀이 하나님의 사람 스마야에게 임하여 이르시되
2 But the word of theLordcame toShemaiah the man of God:
3 솔로몬의 아들 유다 왕 르호보암과 유다와 베냐민에 속한 모든 이스라엘 무리에게 말하여 이르기를
3 Say to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin,
4 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희는 올라가지 말라 너희 형제와 싸우지 말고 각기 집으로 돌아가라 이 일이 내게로 말미암아 난 것이라 하셨다 하라 하신지라 그들이 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 돌아가고 여로보암을 치러 가던 길에서 되돌아왔더라
4 Thus says theLord, You shall not go up or fight againstyour relatives. Return every man to his home, for this thing is from me.So they listened to the word of theLordand returned and did not go against Jeroboam.
5 르호보암이 예루살렘에 살면서 유다 땅에 방비하는 성읍들을 건축하였으니
5 Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and he builtcities for defense in Judah.
6 곧 베들레헴과 에담과 드고아와
6 He built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,
7 벧술과 소고와 아둘람과
7 Beth-zur, Soco, Adullam,
8 가드와 마레사와 십과
8 Gath,Mareshah, Ziph,
9 아도라임과 라기스와 아세가와
9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,
10 소라와 아얄론과 헤브론이니 다 유다와 베냐민 땅에 있어 견고한 성읍들이라
10 Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, fortified cities that are in Judah and in Benjamin.
11 르호보암이 그 방비하는 성읍들을 더욱 견고하게 하고 지휘관들을 그 가운데에 두고 양식과 기름과 포도주를 저축하고
11 He made the fortresses strong, and put commanders in them, and stores of food, oil, and wine.
12 모든 성읍에 방패와 창을 두어 매우 강하게 하니라 유다와 베냐민이 르호보암에게 속하였더라
12 And he put shields and spears in all the cities and made them very strong. So he held Judah and Benjamin.
13 온 이스라엘의 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 그들의 모든 지방에서부터 르호보암에게 돌아오되
13 And the priests and the Levites who were in all Israel presented themselves to him from all places where they lived.
14 레위 사람들이 자기들의 마을들과 산업을 떠나 유다와 예루살렘에 이르렀으니 이는 여로보암과 그의 아들들이 그들을 해임하여 여호와께 제사장의 직분을 행하지 못하게 하고
14 For the Levites lefttheir common lands and their holdings and came to Judah and Jerusalem,because Jeroboam and his sons cast them out from serving as priests of theLord,
15 여로보암이 여러 산당과 숫염소 우상과 자기가 만든 송아지 우상을 위하여 친히 제사장들을 세움이라
15 and he appointed his ownpriests for the high places and for the goat idols and forthe calves that he had made.
16 이스라엘 모든 지파 중에 마음을 굳게 하여 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찾는 자들이 레위 사람들을 따라 예루살렘에 이르러 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와께 제사하고자 한지라
16 And those who had set their hearts to seek theLordGod of Israel came after them from all the tribes of Israel to Jerusalem to sacrifice to theLord, the God of their fathers.
17 그러므로 삼 년 동안 유다 나라를 도와 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 강성하게 하였으니 이는 무리가 삼 년 동안을 다윗과 솔로몬의 길로 행하였음이더라
17 They strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and for three years they made Rehoboam the son of Solomon secure, for they walked for three years in the way of David and Solomon.
18 르호보암이 다윗의 아들 여리못의 딸 마할랏을 아내로 삼았으니 마할랏은 이새의 아들 엘리압의 딸 아비하일의 소생이라
18 Rehoboam took as wife Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter ofEliab the son of Jesse,
19 그가 아들들 곧 여우스와 스마랴와 사함을 낳았으며
19 and she bore him sons, Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham.
20 그 후에 압살롬의 딸 마아가에게 장가 들었더니 그가 아비야와 앗대와 시사와 슬로밋을 낳았더라
20 After her he tookMaacah the daughter of Absalom, who bore himAbijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 르호보암은 아내 열여덟 명과 첩 예순 명을 거느려 아들 스물여덟 명과 딸 예순 명을 낳았으나 압살롬의 딸 마아가를 모든 처첩보다 더 사랑하여
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and concubines (he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters).
22 르호보암은 마아가의 아들 아비야를 후계자로 세웠으니 이는 그의 형제들 가운데 지도자로 삼아 왕으로 세우고자 함이었더라
22 And Rehoboam appointedAbijah the son of Maacah as chief prince among his brothers, for he intended to make him king.
23 르호보암이 지혜롭게 행하여 그의 모든 아들을 유다와 베냐민의 온 땅 모든 견고한 성읍에 흩어 살게 하고 양식을 후히 주고 아내를 많이 구하여 주었더라
23 And he dealt wisely and distributed some of his sons through all the districts of Judah and Benjamin, in all the fortified cities, and he gave them abundant provisions and procured wives for them.
12장
1 르호보암의 나라가 견고하고 세력이 강해지매 그가 여호와의 율법을 버리니 온 이스라엘이 본받은지라
1 When the rule of Rehoboam was establishedand he was strong,he abandoned the law of theLord, and all Israel with him.
2 그들이 여호와께 범죄하였으므로 르호보암 왕 제오년에 애굽 왕 시삭이 예루살렘을 치러 올라오니
2 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, because they had been unfaithful to theLord,Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem
3 그에게 병거가 천이백 대요 마병이 육만 명이며 애굽에서 그와 함께 온 백성 곧 리비아와 숙과 구스 사람이 헤아릴 수 없이 많더라
3 with 1,200 chariots and 60,000 horsemen. And the people were without number who came with him from Egypt&emdash;Libyans, Sukkiim, and Ethiopians.
4 시삭이 유다의 견고한 성읍들을 빼앗고 예루살렘에 이르니
4 And he tookthe fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem.
5 그 때에 유다 방백들이 시삭의 일로 예루살렘에 모였는지라 선지자 스마야가 르호보암과 방백들에게 나아와 이르되 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희가 나를 버렸으므로 나도 너희를 버려 시삭의 손에 넘겼노라 하셨다 한지라
5 ThenShemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them,Thus says theLord,You abandoned me, so I have abandoned you to the hand of Shishak.
6 이에 이스라엘 방백들과 왕이 스스로 겸비하여 이르되 여호와는 의로우시다 하매
6 Then the princes ofIsrael and the king humbled themselves and said,TheLordis righteous.
7 여호와께서 그들이 스스로 겸비함을 보신지라 여호와의 말씀이 스마야에게 임하여 이르시되 그들이 스스로 겸비하였으니 내가 멸하지 아니하고 저희를 조금 구원하여 나의 노를 시삭의 손을 통하여 예루살렘에 쏟지 아니하리라
7 When theLordsaw that they humbled themselves, the word of theLordcame to Shemaiah:They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance,and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8 그러나 그들이 시삭의 종이 되어 나를 섬기는 것과 세상 나라들을 섬기는 것이 어떠한지 알게 되리라 하셨더라
8 Nevertheless, they shall be servants to him,that they may know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
9 애굽 왕 시삭이 올라와서 예루살렘을 치고 여호와의 전 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 모두 빼앗고 솔로몬이 만든 금 방패도 빼앗은지라
9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem. He took away the treasures of the house of theLordand the treasures of the king's house. He took away everything. He also took awaythe shields of gold that Solomon had made,
10 르호보암 왕이 그 대신에 놋으로 방패를 만들어 궁문을 지키는 경호 책임자들의 손에 맡기매
10 and King Rehoboam made in their place shields of bronze and committed them to the hands of the officers of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.
11 왕이 여호와의 전에 들어갈 때마다 경호하는 자가 그 방패를 들고 갔다가 경호실로 도로 가져갔더라
11 And as often as the king went into the house of theLord, the guard came and carried them and brought them back to the guardroom.
12 르호보암이 스스로 겸비하였고 유다에 선한 일도 있으므로 여호와께서 노를 돌이키사 다 멸하지 아니하셨더라
12 And whenhe humbled himself the wrath of theLordturned from him, so as not to make a complete destruction. Moreover,conditions were goodin Judah.
13 르호보암 왕은 예루살렘에서 스스로 세력을 굳게 하여 다스리니라 르호보암이 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 사십일 세라 예루살렘 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘의 모든 지파 중에서 택하여 그의 이름을 두신 성에서 십칠 년 동안 다스리니라 르호보암의 어머니의 이름은 나아마요 암몬 여인이더라
13 So King Rehoboam grew strong in Jerusalem and reigned. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that theLordhad chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. His mother's name was Naamah the Ammonite.
14 르호보암이 악을 행하였으니 이는 그가 여호와를 구하는 마음을 굳게 하지 아니함이었더라
14 And he did evil,for he did not set his heart to seek theLord.
15 르호보암의 처음부터 끝까지의 행적은 선지자 스마야와 선견자 잇도의 족보책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에 항상 전쟁이 있으니라
15 Now the acts of Rehoboam,from first to last, are they not written in the chronicles ofShemaiah the prophet and ofIddothe seer?There were continual wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.
16 르호보암이 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 아비야가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라
16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David, andAbijahhis son reigned in his place.로마서
9장
1 내가 그리스도 안에서 참말을 하고 거짓말을 아니하노라 나에게 큰 근심이 있는 것과 마음에 그치지 않는 고통이 있는 것을 내 양심이 성령 안에서 나와 더불어 증언하노니
1 I am speaking the truth in Christ&emdash;I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit&emdash;

2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.
3 나의 형제 곧 골육의 친척을 위하여 내 자신이 저주를 받아 그리스도에게서 끊어질지라도 원하는 바로라
3 ForI could wish that I myself wereaccursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers,my kinsmenaccording to the flesh.
4 그들은 이스라엘 사람이라 그들에게는 양자 됨과 영광과 언약들과 율법을 세우신 것과 예배와 약속들이 있고
4 They areIsraelites, and to them belongthe adoption,the glory,the covenants,the giving of the law,the worship, andthe promises.
5 조상들도 그들의 것이요 육신으로 하면 그리스도가 그들에게서 나셨으니 그는 만물 위에 계셔서 세세에 찬양을 받으실 하나님이시니라 아멘
5 To them belongthe patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ,who is God over all,blessed forever. Amen.
6 그러나 하나님의 말씀이 폐하여진 것 같지 않도다 이스라엘에게서 난 그들이 다 이스라엘이 아니요
6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,
7 또한 아브라함의 씨가 다 그의 자녀가 아니라 오직 이삭으로부터 난 자라야 네 씨라 불리리라 하셨으니
7 and not all are children of Abrahambecause they are his offspring, butThrough Isaac shall your offspring be named.
8 곧 육신의 자녀가 하나님의 자녀가 아니요 오직 약속의 자녀가 씨로 여기심을 받느니라
8 This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, butthe children of the promise are counted as offspring.
9 약속의 말씀은 이것이니 명년 이 때에 내가 이르리니 사라에게 아들이 있으리라 하심이라
9 For this is what the promise said:About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 그뿐 아니라 또한 리브가가 우리 조상 이삭 한 사람으로 말미암아 임신하였는데
10 And not only so, butalso when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,
11 그 자식들이 아직 나지도 아니하고 무슨 선이나 악을 행하지 아니한 때에 택하심을 따라 되는 하나님의 뜻이 행위로 말미암지 않고 오직 부르시는 이로 말미암아 서게 하려 하사
11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad&emdash;in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because ofhim who calls&emdash;
12 리브가에게 이르시되 큰 자가 어린 자를 섬기리라 하셨나니
12 she was told,The older will serve the younger.
13 기록된 바 내가 야곱은 사랑하고 에서는 미워하였다 하심과 같으니라
13 As it is written,Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.
14 그런즉 우리가 무슨 말을 하리요 하나님께 불의가 있느냐 그럴 수 없느니라
14 What shall we say then?Is there injustice on God's part? By no means!
15 모세에게 이르시되 내가 긍휼히 여길 자를 긍휼히 여기고 불쌍히 여길 자를 불쌍히 여기리라 하셨으니
15 For he says to Moses,I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.
16 그런즉 원하는 자로 말미암음도 아니요 달음박질하는 자로 말미암음도 아니요 오직 긍휼히 여기시는 하나님으로 말미암음이니라
16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion,but on God, who has mercy.
17 성경이 바로에게 이르시되 내가 이 일을 위하여 너를 세웠으니 곧 너로 말미암아 내 능력을 보이고 내 이름이 온 땅에 전파되게 하려 함이라 하셨으니
17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh,For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
18 그런즉 하나님께서 하고자 하시는 자를 긍휼히 여기시고 하고자 하시는 자를 완악하게 하시느니라
18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.
