여호수아
1장
1 여호와의 종 모세가 죽은 후에 여호와께서 모세의 수종자 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되,
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses` aide:
2 내 종 모세가 죽었으니 이제 너는 이 모든 백성과 더불어 일어나 이 요단을 건너 내가 그들 곧 이스라엘 자손에게 주는 그 땅으로 가라
2 Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them--to the Israelites.
3 내가 모세에게 말한 바와 같이 너희 발바닥으로 밟는 곳은 모두 내가 너희에게 주었노니
3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.
4 곧 광야와 이 레바논에서부터 큰 강 곧 유브라데 강까지 헷 족속의 온 땅과 또 해 지는 쪽 대해까지 너희의 영토가 되리라
4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates--all the Hittite country--to the Great Sea on the west.
5 네 평생에 너를 능히 대적할 자가 없으리니 내가 모세와 함께 있었던 것 같이 너와 함께 있을 것임이니라 내가 너를 떠나지 아니하며 버리지 아니하리니
5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
6 강하고 담대하라 너는 내가 그들의 조상에게 맹세하여 그들에게 주리라 한 땅을 이 백성에게 차지하게 하리라
6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.
7 오직 강하고 극히 담대하여 나의 종 모세가 네게 명령한 그 율법을 다 지켜 행하고 우로나 좌로나 치우치지 말라 그리하면 어디로 가든지 형통하리니
7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
8 이 율법책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하며 주야로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 대로 다 지켜 행하라 그리하면 네 길이 평탄하게 될 것이며 네가 형통하리라
8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
9 내가 네게 명령한 것이 아니냐 강하고 담대하라 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말라 네가 어디로 가든지 네 하나님 여호와가 너와 함께 하느니라 하시니라
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
10 이에 여호수아가 그 백성의 관리들에게 명령하여 이르되
10 So Joshua ordered the officers of the people:
11 진중에 두루 다니며 그 백성에게 명령하여 이르기를 양식을 준비하라 사흘 안에 너희가 이 요단을 건너 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 주사 차지하게 하시는 땅을 차지하기 위하여 들어갈 것임이니라 하라
11 Go through the camp and tell the people, `Get your supplies ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you for your own.`
12 여호수아가 또 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 므낫세 반 지파에게 말하여 이르되
12 But to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,
13 여호와의 종 모세가 너희에게 명령하여 이르기를 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 안식을 주시며 이 땅을 너희에게 주시리라 하였나니 너희는 그 말을 기억하라
13 Remember the command that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: `The LORD your God is giving you rest and has granted you this land.`
14 너희의 처자와 가축은 모세가 너희에게 준 요단 이쪽 땅에 머무르려니와 너희 모든 용사들은 무장하고 너희의 형제보다 앞서 건너가서 그들을 돕되
14 Your wives, your children and your livestock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan, but all your fighting men, fully armed, must cross over ahead of your brothers. You are to help your brothers
15 여호와께서 너희를 안식하게 하신 것 같이 너희의 형제도 안식하며 그들도 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 주시는 그 땅을 차지하기까지 하라 그리고 너희는 너희 소유지 곧 여호와의 종 모세가 너희에게 준 요단 이쪽 해 돋는 곳으로 돌아와서 그것을 차지할지니라
15 until the LORD gives them rest, as he has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land that the LORD your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy your own land, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you east of the Jordan toward the sunrise."
16 그들이 여호수아에게 대답하여 이르되 당신이 우리에게 명령하신 것은 우리가 다 행할 것이요 당신이 우리를 보내시는 곳에는 우리가 가리이다
16 Then they answered Joshua, "Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.
17 우리는 범사에 모세에게 순종한 것 같이 당신에게 순종하려니와 오직 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 모세와 함께 계시던 것 같이 당신과 함께 계시기를 원하나이다
17 Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the LORD your God be with you as he was with Moses.
18 누구든지 당신의 명령을 거역하며 당신의 말씀을 순종하지 아니하는 자는 죽임을 당하리니 오직 강하고 담대하소서
18 Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey your words, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!"2장
1 눈의 아들 여호수아가 싯딤에서 두 사람을 정탐꾼으로 보내며 이르되 가서 그 땅과 여리고를 엿보라 하매 그들이 가서 라합이라 하는 기생의 집에 들어가 거기서 유숙하더니
1 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. "Go, look over the land," he said, "especially Jericho." So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.
2 어떤 사람이 여리고 왕에게 말하여 이르되 보소서 이 밤에 이스라엘 자손 중의 몇 사람이 이 땅을 정탐하러 이리로 들어왔나이다
2 The king of Jericho was told, "Look! Some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land."
3 여리고 왕이 라합에게 사람을 보내어 이르되 네게로 와서 네 집에 들어간 그 사람들을 끌어내라 그들은 이 온 땅을 정탐하러 왔느니라
3 So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: "Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land."
4 그 여인이 그 두 사람을 이미 숨긴지라 이르되 과연 그 사람들이 내게 왔었으나 그들이 어디에서 왔는지 나는 알지 못하였고
4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, "Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from.
5 그 사람들이 어두워 성문을 닫을 때쯤 되어 나갔으니 어디로 갔는지 내가 알지 못하나 급히 따라가라 그리하면 그들을 따라잡으리라 하였으나
5 At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, the men left. I don`t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them."
6 그가 이미 그들을 이끌고 지붕에 올라가서 그 지붕에 벌여 놓은 삼대에 숨겼더라
6 (But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them under the stalks of flax she had laid out on the roof.)
7 그 사람들은 요단 나루터까지 그들을 쫓아갔고 그들을 뒤쫓는 자들이 나가자 곧 성문을 닫았더라
7 So the men set out in pursuit of the spies on the road that leads to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as the pursuers had gone out, the gate was shut.
8 또 그들이 눕기 전에 라합이 지붕에 올라가서 그들에게 이르러
8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof
9 말하되 여호와께서 이 땅을 너희에게 주신 줄을 내가 아노라 우리가 너희를 심히 두려워하고 이 땅 주민들이 다 너희 앞에서 간담이 녹나니
9 and said to them, "I know that the LORD has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you.
10 이는 너희가 애굽에서 나올 때에 여호와께서 너희 앞에서 홍해 물을 마르게 하신 일과 너희가 요단 저쪽에 있는 아모리 사람의 두 왕 시혼과 옥에게 행한 일 곧 그들을 전멸시킨 일을 우리가 들었음이니라
10 We have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed.
11 우리가 듣자 곧 마음이 녹았고 너희로 말미암아 사람이 정신을 잃었나니 너희의 하나님 여호와는 위로는 하늘에서도 아래로는 땅에서도 하나님이시니라
11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted and everyone`s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.
12 그러므로 이제 청하노니 내가 너희를 선대하였은즉 너희도 내 아버지의 집을 선대하도록 여호와로 내게 맹세하고 내게 증표를 내라
12 Now then, please swear to me by the LORD that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign
13 그리고 나의 부모와 나의 남녀 형제와 그들에게 속한 모든 사람을 살려 주어 우리 목숨을 죽음에서 건져내라
13 that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them, and that you will save us from death."
14 그 사람들이 그에게 이르되 네가 우리의 이 일을 누설하지 아니하면 우리의 목숨으로 너희를 대신할 것이요 여호와께서 우리에게 이 땅을 주실 때에는 인자하고 진실하게 너를 대우하리라
14 Our lives for your lives! the men assured her. "If you don`t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the LORD gives us the land."누가복음
12장
49 내가 불을 땅에 던지러 왔노니 이 불이 이미 붙었으면 내가 무엇을 원하리요
49 I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!
50 나는 받을 세례가 있으니 그것이 이루어지기까지 나의 답답함이 어떠하겠느냐
50 But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed!
51 내가 세상에 화평을 주려고 온 줄로 아느냐 내가 너희에게 이르노니 아니라 도리어 분쟁하게 하려 함이로라
51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.
52 이 후부터 한 집에 다섯 사람이 있어 분쟁하되 셋이 둘과, 둘이 셋과 하리니
52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three.
53 아버지가 아들과, 아들이 아버지와, 어머니가 딸과, 딸이 어머니와, 시어머니가 며느리와, 며느리가 시어머니와 분쟁하리라 하시니라
53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
54 또 무리에게 이르시되 너희가 구름이 서쪽에서 이는 것을 보면 곧 말하기를 소나기가 오리라 하나니 과연 그러하고
54 He said to the crowd: "When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, `It`s going to rain,` and it does.
55 남풍이 부는 것을 보면 말하기를 심히 더우리라 하나니 과연 그러하니라
55 And when the south wind blows, you say, `It`s going to be hot,` and it is.
56 외식하는 자여 너희가 천지의 기상은 분간할 줄 알면서 어찌 이 시대는 분간하지 못하느냐
56 Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don`t know how to interpret this present time?
57 또 어찌하여 옳은 것을 스스로 판단하지 아니하느냐
57 Why don`t you judge for yourselves what is right?
58 네가 너를 고발하는 자와 함께 법관에게 갈 때에 길에서 화해하기를 힘쓰라 그가 너를 재판장에게 끌어 가고 재판장이 너를 옥졸에게 넘겨 주어 옥졸이 옥에 가둘까 염려하라
58 As you are going with your adversary to the magistrate, try hard to be reconciled to him on the way, or he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
59 네게 이르노니 한 푼이라도 남김이 없이 갚지 아니하고서는 결코 거기서 나오지 못하리라 하시니라
59 I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny."13장
1 그 때 마침 두어 사람이 와서 빌라도가 어떤 갈릴리 사람들의 피를 그들의 제물에 섞은 일로 예수께 아뢰니
1 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
2 대답하여 이르시되 너희는 이 갈릴리 사람들이 이같이 해 받으므로 다른 모든 갈릴리 사람보다 죄가 더 있는 줄 아느냐
2 Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?
3 너희에게 이르노니 아니라 너희도 만일 회개하지 아니하면 다 이와 같이 망하리라
3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
4 또 실로암에서 망대가 무너져 치어 죽은 열여덟 사람이 예루살렘에 거한 다른 모든 사람보다 죄가 더 있는 줄 아느냐
4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?
5 너희에게 이르노니 아니라 너희도 만일 회개하지 아니하면 다 이와 같이 망하리라
5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."
6 이에 비유로 말씀하시되 한 사람이 포도원에 무화과나무를 심은 것이 있더니 와서 그 열매를 구하였으나 얻지 못한지라
6 Then he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any.
7 포도원지기에게 이르되 내가 삼 년을 와서 이 무화과나무에서 열매를 구하되 얻지 못하니 찍어버리라 어찌 땅만 버리게 하겠느냐
7 So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, `For three years now I`ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven`t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?`
8 대답하여 이르되 주인이여 금년에도 그대로 두소서 내가 두루 파고 거름을 주리니
8 `Sir,` the man replied, `leave it alone for one more year, and I`ll dig around it and fertilize it.
9 이 후에 만일 열매가 열면 좋거니와 그렇지 않으면 찍어버리소서 하였다 하시니라
9 If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.` "
